Krakow webcams. Market Square
Every self-respecting European city has a main market. In Krakow, it's the whole Market Square. After all, Poles have always loved to bargain on a grand scale. It can be said that locals made this market for themselves. Initially it was too big for Krakow, but gradually it began to grow with new rows - bread, meat, fish, coal, salt and others. So the square blended harmoniously into the city and became the central place of trade.
Krakow Market Square is one of the largest medieval squares in Europe. It was built in 1257, and the buildings framing it were built in the 14th-15th centuries and got their present appearance in the 17th-19th centuries, though they preserved the Renaissance and Baroque style: attics, portals, inner courtyard galleries.
The main attractions of the square, besides the market itself, are the Town Hall Tower, the Church of St. Wojciech, the monument to Adam Mickiewicz, Zbaraski Palace and, of course, the St. Mary's Church. Today, locals go "to the Market" to take a walk, go on a date, a business meeting, but not for fruits and vegetables. Now it is one of the attractions of Krakow.
