Webcam Bandung. Dipinigoro Street
Bandung is a city in Indonesia on the island of Java. It has been called the "city of universities," the "city of flowers," and the "Paris of Java. Located 700 meters above sea level and formerly a colonial Dutch town, it largely justified these definitions until its rapid growth over the past three decades and transformation into an industrial center.
Now Bandung is one of the country's largest cities with more than 2,500,000 residents. Its icon is the newly built Pasopati Bridge, fluttering proudly above the red-tiled roofs.
Bandung's main shopping street, Jl.Braga, is lined with stores, hotels and restaurants. Every Saturday evening, Jl.Dago sees crowds of young people with their tuning cars in the spirit of Fast and Furious, music and dancing skills. It all looks quite spectacular and interesting to watch from street cafes and restaurants.
Modern buildings in Bandung are really not much, standing out among them the University of Technology, where President Sukarno studied at one time. More can be noted "Villa Isola" (Jl. Dr. Setiabudhi 229), "Gedung Merdeka" (Jl. Asia-Africa, 65) and "Gedung Sate" (Jl.Diponegoro).
In Bandung tourists stop infrequently, mainly to admire the art deco buildings left by the Dutch and to climb the volcano Tangkuban Perahu (Gunung Tangkuban Perahu), 30 km north of the city.
Much more interesting with its easily accessible crater (only 4 km from the start of the track), clouds enveloping the slopes and sulfur springs Charita (7 km from the volcano), in which you can bathe. Since this place is quite popular with tourists, all sorts of cafes - souvenir shops are present in abundance. Of course, it is desirable to make all climbs in the dry season from April to October.
The starting point for the trek is a nice colonial town Lembang, where you can get to the volcano just 9 kilometers away. In Lembang itself you should visit the only observatory in the country. Another city "chip" - fresh milk in different flavors, sold on every corner.
And yet the most beautiful places in the vicinity of Bandung are not to the north, but to the southeast of the city. They are dedicated to those who want to turn off the well-trodden tourist trails and look into the mouth of the volcanic devil. We are talking about a volcano with an Armenian surname Papandayan and an Armenian temperament.
