Webcam Lipetsk. Peter the Great Square online in real time
Peter the Great Square, located in the central part of Lipetsk, is not only the ceremonial square of the city, but also one of the most beautiful places. It is here that all the ceremonial events on the occasion of public holidays take place. The square is located on the border of Soviet and Pravoberezhny districts, and from different sides it is bordered by streets Karl Marx, Litavrina and Oktyabrskaya. Earlier it was named after Karl Marx, one of the ideologists of communism.
For many years, the main town square was Sobornaya, and the design for a new square didn't appear until the 1950s. However, the construction of the square started much later, despite the fact that in 1969 it had already been given its official name.
The embodiment of the original plan began only in the 1980s, and was carried out by a whole team of architects - S. Soshnikov, V. V. S. A. Soshnikov, S. M. Sorokin and S. G. Kulagin. Soon new buildings appeared on the square - a cinema, dwelling houses, and administrative buildings.
In 1996, in the center of the square appeared a monument to Peter I, which became its main decoration.
