Buzuluk is a small town in the Orenburg region, located at the confluence of the rivers Samara, Buzuluk and Domashka, 140 kilometers from Samara and 230 kilometers from the regional center. The area of the settlement is 54.4 square kilometers.

In 1736 Buzuluk fortress was founded on the site of the modern city.
In 1781 Buzuluk fortress was transformed into a county town Buzuluk.
In 1811 the number of inhabitants of the town grew to 14.5 thousand people.

From 1851 to 1928 the town was part of the Samara region.
At the end of the 19th century in Buzuluk functioned bell factory, five Orthodox churches, men's and women's colleges, female monastery of the Virgin Mary and the Transfiguration monastery.

In 1934 the village was included in the Orenburg region.
During the Great Patriotic War, several factories of the city produced products for the front.

In the postwar years in Buzuluk began active construction of houses, social and cultural facilities and office buildings.
In the 1960s, development of oil fields near the city began.

In 1973, oil from the Buzuluk field began to be pumped through the pipeline "Druzhba".

In the 1990s, due to the economic crisis, many enterprises in Buzuluk were closed.
In 2005 the city became the best in the Orenburg region in terms of economic indicators of development.
