Zell am See (German: Zell am See) is a commune and a popular resort in Austria, located in the middle of the Alps at 760 meters above sea level on the western shore of Lake Zeller, in the federal state of Salzburg, 60 km south-west of Salzburg and 100 km east of Innsbruck.
It has an area of 55.17 km² and is home to about 9.5 thousand people. Zell am See is one of the most beautiful ski resorts in all of Europe, thanks to the scenic views of the Alps and the lake. Zell-am-See offers more than 75 km of ski slopes of varying difficulty level with an altitude difference of 1250 m.
Trails serve about 28 elevators. You can take a shuttle or cab to get from the town to the ski slopes.
Skiing season in Zell-am-See runs from mid-December to mid-April, and in the summertime popular hiking, biking and a lot of water activities on the lake Zeller. Zell-am-See has a well-developed tourist infrastructure, with many restaurants, cafes and hotels, sports equipment rentals, ski schools, etc.
Salzburg Airport is 85 kilometers north of Zell am See, and has a bus service to the resort.
