The Sibiu zoo was the first in the country. It was opened in 1929 by an Electrical Company thanks to an engineer from Hungary. The idea of opening a zoo was born after he found some foxes in his village near Sibiu. After its foundation, the zoo began to receive many different animals and birds as gifts. In 1930, the first bear appeared in the zoo. Today, 135 animals live here on an area of 15 hectares. If you come to Sibiu with children, be sure to visit this zoo.
