The Cathedral of Santa Maria de Leon is a Catholic cathedral in the city of Leon (Castile and Leon). Today, the cathedral is one of the most famous churches in the north of the country and a striking example of Spanish Gothic architecture. Inside the cathedral there are many old sculptures. The exterior of the building is decorated with numerous surviving gargoyles, griffins and chimeras. The facade of the cathedral has two towers, one of them, the southern, clock tower.
