Narvik is a town and municipality in Nordland County, Norway. It is located north of the Arctic Circle in the Ofoten region, on the shore of the Ofotfjord and borders the municipalities of Gratangen, Lavangen and Bardu to the north, Evenes to the northwest and Ballangen to the west, and Sweden to the southeast. The city was founded as a port city and still retains its status as an important transport hub.
