Mednogorsk is a city in Russia, in the Orenburg region, one of the industrial centers of the Orenburg region. Administrative center of the municipality "Mednogorsk City".
Population - 24,638 people (2020).
In 2018, Mednogorsk was awarded the honorary title "City of Labor Glory" by the decree of the Governor of the Orenburg region. Residents who have made a significant contribution to the city's development are awarded the title "Honorary Citizen of Mednogorsk" by the City Council of Deputies. From 1977 to 2020, the title was awarded to 56 people.
The city of Mednogorsk is located in the southern part of the western slope of the Ural Mountains, on the treeless slopes of the deep valley of the Blyava River. Absolute altitudes of the terrain within the municipality - from 238 meters (on the river Kuraganka below the village Rysaevo) to 478 meters (on the plateau near the quarry Blyavinskogo mine, north of town).
The city is 223 km (by rail) east of the regional center - the city of Orenburg and 100 km west of Orsk - a major industrial city of the region.
