Webcam Lahaina. Panorama of the coast
Maui is the second largest island in the Hawaiian archipelago with an area of about 1,883.5 km².
Lahaina is a coastal old town located on the west side of the island of Maui, famous for its rich history.
In the 19th century, the city was both the capital of the Kingdom of Hawaii and a whaling center - Lahaina was an important port of call for whaling ships in 1843-1860.
Now cruise ships come here. But there is no wharf in town; passengers are disembarked by tender dinghies.
The city of Lahaina is on the National Register of Historic Places. The vintage atmosphere can be felt by strolling down busy Front Street, visiting such sites as the Citadel, the Hospital for American Mariners, Hale Pajo (prison), and the Pioneer Inn Harbor. A total of 60 historic sites have been preserved and restored in the 22-hectare area.
Lahaina's sunny weather and wonderful climate make it a perfect backdrop for events and entertainment, the city with dozens of art galleries, unique stores and restaurants is one of the most popular vacation spots in the US, with the most expensive real estate in Hawaii. The fresh flavors of regional cuisine, traditional Polynesian dances and theatrical shows offered as entertainment offer a taste of Hawaii's culture.
