Tenri is a city in Nara Prefecture, Japan. The city is famous for the Shinto shrine of Isonokami-jingu, which houses the legendary sword-kami of this shrine and the mitama (spirit) of all Japan, which resides in the temple-Totsuka-no-Tsurugi. The city is also home to the spiritual center of the Tenrikyo religion.
