Webcam Beaumaris. Beach at the hotel Gallows Point

Beaumaris is on the island of Anglesey and was once its administrative center. It is located on the coast by the Menai Strait, which separates the island from the rest of Wales. The city attracts tourists with its architectural landmarks.

It was once a Viking settlement, but the Welsh wars made it part of Britain. According to historical records, the town was founded by Edward the First, who in 1295 began building a local landmark - a castle. The area was heavily marshy, but the French builders saw this as a local beauty, so they called the area "beautiful moors."

Beaumaris became a castle town that received royal privileges. All nearby trade was also conducted through this settlement and it became a commercial center. Soon Beaumaris was among the three most important ports in Britain, where ships from Conwy to Pullhelli were registered.

The population is only 2,000. Beaumaris continues to be a quiet town that retains its Welsh flavor.
