Lamu Island-located in the Indian Ocean, in northern Kenya, 45 minutes by plane from Mombasa Airport, an hour and a half by plane from Nairobi and Wilson Airport. This is one of the most interesting historical sites on the East African coast. The island is separated from the mainland by a narrow strait and has managed to preserve the originality and cultural traditions of Swahili. In the Middle Ages, it was a bustling center of trade, rivaling Zanzibar and famous for its slave markets.
