Webcam Saki. Revolution Square

Revolution Square, the former Bazarnaya Square, was designed in the 1970s, so it bears the imprint of the culture of the Soviet period: it is traditionally decorated with the Palace of Culture and a monument to the revolutionary leader - Lenin.
Opposite the monument to the atheist leader stands the Orthodox Church of St. Elijah, which has been extensively renovated in recent years. The church is a unique example of architectural, construction and decorative art.

The church was built under the direction of architect X.K.Vasiliev and consecrated on October 2, 1903. The author of the design of the bell tower, built a few earlier - the architect A. Karapetov, who designed the buildings of the seminary church and the Treasury Chamber in Simferopol, the annex to the Church of St. John the Baptist in Kerch and other structures.

For a long time the church was the only major construction in the center of the village, built soundly and attracted attention for its architectural and artistic merits.
Until 1929 the parish of St. Elias Church included believers from the village of Saki and several nearby villages, then, "at the request of 1,500 workers against 29 believers," the church was closed and transferred to the club. However, during the Great Patriotic War was reopened. Since then, services in it have not ceased.

Next to the temple is Middle School № 4, the oldest not only in the city, but also in the whole district. The school is more than a century and a half.
Opposite the school - the building of the communications center, which now houses the bank institutions.
On the opposite side of the square - the building of the former cinema "October", adapted as a shopping complex.

This is the oldest street in town, which, according to the old residents, used to stretch all the way to the railway station. The street is full of store signs, cafes and eateries have tables set up right on the sidewalks, and the sounds of music inviting you to have a good time are coming from everywhere.
