Adler stretches along the Black Sea coast for 17 km, on both sides of the Mzymta River. In the west, Adler is bounded by the Kudepsta mountain river, which flows into the sea, and in the east, by the Psou river, along which passes the state border between Russia and Abkhazia. The northern part of Adler is occupied by the spurs of the Greater Caucasus, Aibga Ridge.
The total area of the district is 35 sq.km. with a permanent population of 110 thousand people.
In the summer season, due to many visitors of tourists Adler population significantly increases. Despite the fact that administratively it is only a part of Sochi, Adler can be considered as a separate resort center of the Black Sea. This is connected with its complete self-sufficiency - the area has all the necessary social, transport and tourist infrastructure.
There is an international airport in Adler, which connects Sochi with many cities in Russia and around the world, a railway station, a bus station. There are many diverse tourist complexes, sanatoriums, hotels. Some of them located along the coast, designed for summer holidays, while others, such as the resort of Krasnaya Polyana, can take tourists all year round.
In the resort area of Adler there are great beaches with all the necessary infrastructure, world-class ski resorts, natural attractions, health resorts and spas. Thus, here is the highest point of the city, Mount Agepsta, which rises to 3.2 km above the surrounding area. If you add to this mild climate with a large number of sunny days a year, it becomes clear such a high popularity of Adler among domestic and foreign tourists.
