Darmstadt Technical University (Technische Universität Darmstadt, TU Darmstadt) — one of the most famous technical universities, is a member of TU9, the union of nine leading universities in Germany. Historically, it was the first university in the world to offer courses in electrical engineering in 1882/1883. The beginning of its foundation is considered to be October 10, 1877 as a Technical School (Technische Hochschule zu Darmstadt), which eventually acquired the qualification of a higher educational institution.
