The beautiful Polish city of Kielce near the Świętkoszy Mountains has existed for over 700 years. During its history, it has survived many wars and changed many rulers. On its territory, it is a miracle preserved ancient temples and castle. But not only the historical sites are famous for the city, in the southern part of Kielce is a unique cave system, which preserved the fossils of several extinct species of fish, insects and plants, and a nature reserve. In addition to monuments and historic landmarks, there is a wide range of entertainment, stores and restaurants, with delicious national dishes and drinks on the menu of each.

Kielce is located in central Poland. The city area is located on the banks of the Silnica River, at the foot of the Świętkoszy Mountains.
Until 1998, Kielce was the capital of the Province of Kielce. After the administrative reform in 1999 Kielce did not loose its status, but the province was renamed Świętokrzyskie Voivodship.

It is situated on the Małopolska Upland near the Świętokrzyskie Mountains. It borders on six Polish provinces: Mazowieckie (north), Łódzkie (north-west), Małopolskie (south), Podkarpackie (south-east), Śląskie (south-west) and Lubelskie (east).

The city is among the 20 major cities in Poland, and ranks 17th on the list. According to the latest census, Kielce is home to 203,804 people. About 20-25% of the total number of residents are students.
