Diano Marina is a popular resort in Liguria, nestled in the picturesque Gulf of Diano, famous for its unique medieval atmosphere and ancient traditions of making excellent olive oil, which have been handed down from generation to generation since the 13th century.
Diano Marina harmoniously combines features of ancient history and modernity: here are preserved many ancient buildings and built a large number of comfortable hotels, fashionable boutiques and excellent restaurants, where the most delicious Italian dishes are served.
The resort is characterized by a quiet and comfortable atmosphere, and during the holidays is filled with a fairy tale of fun. For example, it is customary here to hold a very colorful carnival dedicated to the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ: the whole city is smartly decorated with flowers and the best landscape designers create beautiful floral compositions in the central squares.
Until the end of XIX century on the site was a fishing village, destroyed during a massive earthquake, after which the spa town was built, taking its name from the ancient Roman goddess of hunting - Diana. During archaeological excavations the most ancient artifacts were found here, which attests to the settlement on these lands many centuries before Christ. You can see the unearthed relics in the Municipal Museum in the ancient Roman Villa Palazzo del Parco, which was built before the earthquake and miraculously survived.
