Saulkrasti - a small resort town located on the south-eastern coast of the Gulf of Riga on the Baltic Sea, 45 km north-east of Riga and 77 km from Jurmala.
Its area is 4.8 km² and it has 3 280 inhabitants. Saulkrasti appeared in 1933 on the place of the 19th century seaside resort Neubad, and received the status of city in 1991. The name of the city is translated from Latvian as "Sunny Beaches".
It is situated on 4 rivers: Incupe, Petrupe, Kisupe and Age. A long sandy beach, more than 17 km long, stretches along its shore. The main attraction of Saulkrasti beach is the White Dune formed over 350 million years ago where the Incupe river flows into the sea. The height of the White Dune is about 18 m and it offers a magnificent view of the coast.
