Saratov circus was founded in 1876 by circus artists and businessmen Nikitin brothers. The first circus performances in Saratov were held in temporary tents at fairs. And in 1876 the Nikitin brothers built a stationary circus in the city, which became the second, after the Penza, stationary circus in Russia.
In 1928, the dilapidated circus building was demolished. In 1931 a new building designed by the famous architect B.S. Vilensky was built.
In 1963, made extensive reconstruction of the circus, and its appearance has changed. In 1998 the building was reconstructed.
In 1973 the circus was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor. On the arena of the circus in Saratov began their circus career Walter and Mstislav Zapashny.
