Gelendzhik Historical Museum is one of the best scientific and cultural institutions of the resort. It was founded in 1909 as a "Natural Science Museum" by Mikhail Mikhailovich Reinke, Privy Councillor and Senior Official of His Imperial Majesty's Chancellery.
Today the museum is a keeper of material and spiritual culture of the resort, a promoter of cultural values, a significant place where bright and topical events are held. To preserve, study and publicly present historical and cultural heritage and to form a thinking creative personality is one of the most important resources of the town's social and economic development.
The museum is actively engaged in exposition and exhibition activities. In 2020, the museum held 49 exhibitions, including in partnership with such famous museum centers as Rosfoto (St. Petersburg), the Krasnodar Regional Art Museum named after F. Kovalenko (Krasnodar), the Museum of the History of the City of Krasnodar (St. Petersburg). Kovalenko, Krasnodar State Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve named after E.D. Felitsyn, PS Gallery (St.Petersburg) and others. The museum actively cooperates with private collectors and collection houses.
