Webcam Carnarvon. Harbor at Victoria Dock
Caernarfon is a small town in northwest Wales. It was once a Roman fort, founded in the first century AD. Tourists are attracted here by the famous castle - an outstanding example of fortification and military construction. The majestic stone castle was built in XIII-XIV centuries on the site of an old wooden one. The fortified structure was built by the English to keep the Welsh population in submission.
After the Tudor dynasty ascended the English throne at the end of the XV century, relations between the English and the Welsh improved considerably - members of the new dynasty had Welsh roots. The castle was abandoned and gradually fell into ruin. Since the second half of the XIX century began successfully work on its restoration. Today you can not only admire this beautiful building, but also visit the Museum of the Welsh Royal Rifles, located in the castle.
