Farroupilha is a city in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in the Serra Gaucha between the cities of Bento Gonçalves and Caxias do Sul. The city has a total area of 359.3 km. The population of Farropilla is 70,345 inhabitants (2012 estimate).
Farropilla holds an annual National Festival do Kiwi (National Kiwi Festival), known as Fenakivi. It is similar to the Festa da Uva in the neighboring city of Caxias do Sul.
The region of Farropiglia was first settled in 1875 by three families (Stefano Crippa, Tomaso Radaelli and Luigi Sperafico) who immigrated from Milan, Italy. The municipality of Farropiglia was officially created on December 11, 1934. The city was named "Farropiglia" in honor of the centennial of the Ragamuffin War, which was celebrated the following year.
