Pushkin (before 1918 - Tsarskoe Selo, from 1918 to 1937 - Detskoe Selo) - a city in the Pushkin district of the city of federal significance of St. Petersburg and its inner-city municipal unit. Major tourist, scientific, educational and military-industrial center. It is included in the UNESCO list of monuments protected by the UNESCO as part of the "Historic Center of St. Petersburg and Related Groups of Monuments.

The Saint-Petersburg - Vitebsk railway line runs through the city, there are a railway station Tsarskoye Selo and the 21-th km halt. Since 1995 the International Tsarskoselsky Carnival is held. In 2000, the Carnival was accepted into the Association of European Carnival Cities (FECC).

June 24, 2010 the city of Pushkin celebrated its 300th anniversary. In this regard, July 23, 2008 President Medvedev issued a decree № 1112 "On celebrating the 300th anniversary of Tsarskoye Selo (Pushkin), and was established an organizing committee of the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of St. Petersburg.

In April 2004 unknown persons threw down the Lenin monument from its pedestal. The monument broke during the fall. In this place on Dec. 7, 2006 the foundation stone of the restored Ekaterininsky Cathedral was laid. Construction was completed to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the city.
