Finse is a tiny mountain village located on the northeastern shore of Lake Finsevatnet in Hordaland in Western Norway, 120 kilometers east of the city of Bergen, the administrative center of the region.
In Finse is a railway station of the same name on the scenic 371 km long Bergen Line connecting the city of Bergen with the town of Hønefoss. The village of Fense is 1.222 meters above sea level, and the Fense railway station is the highest station of the entire rail system in Norway.
You can get to the village only by train. Around Finse there is beautiful Arctic wilderness, and 1,222 meters north of it is the Hardangerjøkulen Glacier. Popular activities here include skiing, cross-country skiing, biking, hiking and sailing on Lake Finsevatnet.
