A live webcam shows Lindisfarne Castle on the island of Lindisfarne in England.
Lindisfarne Castle is a stone castle built in 1550 by English King Henry VIII on Lindisfarne Island in Northumberland, north-east England, to protect the border with Scotland. During the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, Lindisfarne Castle was heavily fortified. After the unification of Scotland and England by King James VI, the importance of the castle declined considerably, but it continued to be used to protect the island of Lindisfarne.
Later the castle became an observation post of the British coast guard, and in 1901 it was bought by Edward Hudson, founder of the weekly magazine Country Life. Lindisfarne Island is situated off the north-east coast of England near the Scottish border and covers 5 km². It is also called the Holy Island, as it is one of the main birthplaces of Christianity in England. At low tide of the North Sea Lindisfarne Island can be easily reached on foot.
