Kanizha is a town in Serbia, in the municipality of Kanizha, in the Northern Banat District of the autonomous Province of Vojvodina, in the historical and geographical region of Banat. Stara Kanizha was the name of modern Kanizha until the beginning of the First World War, to distinguish it from Nova Kanizha, which was on the other side of the Tisza. When the town of Nova Kanizha was renamed Novi Knezevac, Stara Kanizha became known simply as Kanizha.
