Nelidovo is a small town in the Tver region, located on the Semikovka and Mezha rivers, 230 kilometers from the regional center.
The area of the settlement is 20.5 square kilometers.

The first settlement on the site of the modern town was founded in the 16th century.
In 1708 the village was attributed to the district of Bielsk County, Smolensk province.
In September 1901 the railway station of Nelidovo was put into operation, 50 kilometers away from which was located the district town of Bely.

In the first half of the 20th century in the village began functioning plywood and timber factories.

At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War the settlement was regularly bombed by the German air force. After a while German troops occupied Nelidovo.

At the beginning of 1942 the Red Army liberated the village from German invaders.
In 1949, the workers' settlement received the status of a town.
In the postwar years, all the powers of the authorities were thrown to rebuild the ruined village. Also at this time began the development of Nelidovsky coal mines. The four main coal mines gave coal for many years.

In 1975 the Nelidovsky mines produced a record amount of coal - more than a million tons.
In 1950-1970 in the city were built asphalt plant, reinforced concrete factory, brick factory, furniture factory, building plant, clothing factory, meat processing plant.
