Arsenyev is a small town in Primorsky Krai, located on the foothills of Sikhote Alin, 160 kilometers from Vladivostok. The area of the settlement is 90.7 square kilometers.
In 1902, on the site of the modern city of a few villages was formed village Semenovka. In 1929 in Semenovka the first medical attendant's office was opened.
In the 1930's in the village were built aircraft repair plant number 116, two-story apartment buildings and stores.
In 1938 the village was given the status of a workers' settlement. In 1941 in the village were opened a secondary and seven-year schools, bath houses, canteens, a club with a stationary cinema installation.
In 1947 at the plant "Progress" began producing aircraft "YAK-18".
In 1952 the village Semenovka was transformed into a town called Arseniev.
In the 1950s, the following enterprises operated in Arsenyev: 2 machine-building plants, 2 brick factories, a printing house, a bread factory, two artels, and a municipal industrial combine.
In 1964 a widescreen cinema "Cosmos" was commissioned in the city.
In 1986 the plant "Progress" began production of sport-pilot aircraft "Yak-55".
In the 1990th speech-pedagogical children combine "ABVGDeika", martial arts school, the first in Primorye Council of Entrepreneurs were opened in the settlement.
