Severodvinsk is a small city with almost 70 years of history. It acquired its modern name only in 1957. Territorially it is located in the Arkhangelsk region, 35 km from the regional center, and is a municipality. Geographically Severodvinsk is located at the confluence of the Northern Dvina River into the White Sea. This place is called Nikolskoe estuary.
Butoma Avenue is located on the island of Yagry in a neighborhood of the same name in Severodvinsk; it was named so by the decision of Severodvinsk Executive Committee on January 11, 1978 in honor of Boris Yevstafievich Butoma, USSR Minister of Shipbuilding Industry, who played a prominent role in the establishment of the Center for nuclear shipbuilding.
Prospect Butoma is located on the island of Yagry; it starts from Oktyabrskaya Street and goes in the direction of the Primorsky Boulevard and the Zryachev embankment. It is adjoined by Mira Street and Dzerzhinsky Street. There are public transport stops. The total length of Butoma Avenue is about a kilometer.
