Webcam Biysk. Biya River, pontoon bridge (Altai Territory)
The Biya is the second most full-flowing river in the Altai Mountains after the Katun. The Biya originates from the Teletskoye Lake, being the only river flowing out of the lake. Its source is near the bridge in Artybash village. The mouth of the river is near the town of Biysk, the Biya joins the Katun, and gives rise to the Ob. Biya is a full-flowing river along its entire length (301 km), and its water is incredibly transparent all year round.
Large tributaries of the Biya have beautiful old Russian names: the Lebed, Sarykoksha, Pyzha and Nenya rivers. In its upper reaches the Biya is rapids, replete with numerous cliffs, whirlpools and rifts. In its lower reaches this majestic calm river is navigable. The banks are covered with pine forests. Earlier they used to float timber down the Biya.
All the way from the Teletskoye Lake to the confluence with the Katunya, there are many places on the Biya, perfect for fishing and recreation. Biya is rich in fish. There are taimen, grayling, lenok, sterlet, pike, perch, burbot and many others.
