Simferopol is a large city in southern Russia. It is the cultural, administrative, industrial and scientific center of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. It is the center of Simferopol district, but is not part of the district, and is one of a dozen cities of republican subordination. Simferopol is located in the heart of the Crimean peninsula and covers an area of 107 square kilometers. From Ancient Greek the city's name translates as "City of Good". During the conquest of the Crimea by the Tatars, the city was called Akmeschit (white mosque). The townspeople celebrate the city day on the first Saturday in June.

The city is divided into three districts: Kievsky, Central, and Zheleznodorozhny. In the process of construction the city was joined by many nearby settlements, which are now considered districts of Simferopol.

The climate of the area is quite mild. In winter the temperature drops just below 0 degrees Celsius, and in summer approaching +40.

Simferopol is a city actively engaged in industry. The main industries are light and food processing and machine building. The city has more than 70 enterprises, producing a variety of products for the entire peninsula (they produce household chemicals, plastic products, systems of ship automation, power tools, fabrics and clothing, leather goods, essential oils and medicines based on them, canned products and much more).

Simferopol among other things is also an important transportation hub, as it is located in the heart of Crimea. Much of the traffic is tied to this city.

Here you can find the railway station, international and regional airports, bus station and bus stations. In addition there is, listed in the Guinness Book of Records, the longest trolleybus line connecting the city with Alushta and Yalta. Inside the city itself, the most common transport are also trolleybuses, shuttles and buses.
