Akutan is an active volcano located on the island of the same name, consisting of the archipelago of the Aleutian Islands, which are part of the state of Alaska, USA. Akutan is a stratovolcano with a height of 1303 meters. Akutan is located in a caldera with a diameter of 2 kilometers and a depth of 365 meters. The volcano consists of 2 cones. The caldera itself in which the volcano is located was formed 1,600 years ago. There are 3 small volcanic lakes near the volcano. Currently, the higher cone of the volcano is active, with rare lava ejections to the surface. In the crater of the larger cone of the volcano, fumarolic activity is observed. There are hot springs to the northeast of the volcano.
