Severodvinsk is a young city on the map of Russia, which, despite its modest size, has accumulated a rich history and industrial wealth. Thanks to its extremely favorable geographical data and access to the sea, the city has become the center of shipbuilding of various caliber throughout Russia.
The city, washed by the White Sea, at all times has been a strategically important place in the history of Russia because of its convenient port location. In 1938 the village was promoted to a town, giving it the name Molotovsk in honor of Commissioner V.M. Molotov. During the Great Patriotic War in Molotovsk were carried out the main supplies from the Allies.
On the map of Russia, the city of Molotovsk only in 1957 became Severodvinsk, which later earned the title of center of nuclear shipbuilding across the country. The city is located in the Arkhangelsk region, northwest of Arkhangelsk, and has an area of only 120 square kilometers, which is slightly more than half the area of Arkhangelsk itself.
Despite the small size of Severodvinsk, the city has large shipbuilding plants involved in state orders, and many other manufacturing organizations, mainly of the furniture and fishing industry.
