Webcam Lancut. Market Square
Lancut is a town in Poland, part of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, Lancut County. It has the status of the city municipality.
The area is 19.43 km². Population - 18,045 (as of 2004).
Archaeological research carried out in the Lancut area confirms the existence of human settlements from about 4,000 years B.C.
The first owner of the town was Otto (z Pilczy) Pilecki, to whom the estate of Lancut was given by the Polish king, Casimir III the Great in 1349 as a reward for his service. At the same time, the king granted Lancut the rights of a town under the Magdeburg Law.
In 1381, Lancut was officially called a "town" for the first time by Otto of Pilecki in the town charter.
