Fano Webcam. Seaport
Fano is an island in the North Sea off the southwest coast of the Jutland Peninsula. It is the northernmost island of the Frisian Islands (part of the North Frisian Islands). Belongs to Denmark, is part of the municipality of Fania. Area 55.78 km², population 3207 (2009).
The island is 16 km long and 5 km wide and is located near the coast near the town of Esbjerg, to which it is connected by ferry.
There are several natural zones on the island, sands are common. To the west of the island there are beaches, to the northwest there is a sandbank. Vegetation: heathland and small pines. Three-quarters of the island is covered with beaches, dunes, heaths and marshes.
In the Middle Ages was the property of the king, in 1741 it was bought by local residents. In the XVIII-XIX centuries, the island was a large fishing fleet. At the beginning of XX century became a popular resort of Yutland nobility. Today, the two main sectors of the economy: fishing and tourism.
