Webcam Cherepovets. Privokzalny park, monument "Medical Nurse" (Vologda region).

The monument to military medics was opened in Cherepovets on May 5, 2015 in the park at the station square. According to Alexander Rozhnikov, sculptor of the monument "Medical Nurse", Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, the masters tried to take into account the history of the city of Cherepovets when preparing for the work. The artist tried to create a unique monument just about Cherepovets. The image of a nurse depicted on the monument literally turns into a rescuing angel. The plume, according to the sculptor, is practically two wings of an angel.

It's not by chance that the location of the monument is a railway station square, this is where the wounded evacuated during the war came, and this is where they got their first medical and humanitarian aid. During the war years Cherepovets received more than 2.5 million evacuees.
From the first days of the war Cherepovets became an evacuation station and a large hospital. In a provincial town with a population of 42 thousand people there were set up over 30 hospitals.
Medical College of Cherepovets and Red Cross courses have trained about 7 thousand paramedics and nurses who went to the front or worked in hospitals of the city.

During the war years Cherepovets lived and worked under the slogan "Everything for the front! All for Victory!". The city allocated 40 best buildings including administrative ones for hospitals and medical care. This list included the House of Culture, the first school, the Pedagogical Institute and the Mechanical College. The majority of female residents of Cherepovets worked as nurses, nurse practitioners and voluntary medical assistants.

On June 26, 1941 the legendary ambulance train No. 312 made its maiden run to the front, consisting of doctors, nurses, hospital attendants, stokers, machinists, electricians, attendants and wagon masters. For four years the mercy train ran along the roads of war, evacuating the wounded from the front.
