Hohe Tauern is a national park in Austria, located on the territory of three federal states: Tyrol, Carinthia and Salzburg. The national park is located in the central part of the High Tauern-the highest mountain range in Austria. On its territory there are several mountain peaks with a height of more than 3000 meters, including the Grossglockner mountain (3798 meters) — the highest peak in Austria. On the periphery of the park's territory, mountain meadows and forests lie on the mountain slopes. The mountains of the High Tauern are usually divided into three mountain groups: the Venediger (the highest peak is the Grossvenediger, 3,674 m), the Granteschpice (Grosser Muntanitz, 3,232 m) and the Glockner (Grossglockner, 3,798 m). Among the main attractions of the national park, in addition to the mountain peaks, are the Kriml and Golling waterfalls and the narrow mountain gorge Lichtensteinklamm.
