Webcam Tyumen. Melnikaite Street, Engineering Street
Melnikaite Street is one of the main streets of Tyumen. Its length is 8.5 kilometers. It starts from Druzhba Street in the rear part of the city, runs to the south of Tyumen. It ends at the traffic circle with Fedyuninskogo street - one of the components of Tyumen bypass ring. Ulitsa Melnikaite is an important street of the city, as it connects its rear part, center and neighborhoods of Tyumen. The only street in the city, located in all four administrative districts - Leninsky, Central, Kalininsky and Eastern.
On the street there are large shopping centers, office buildings, as well as buildings of Tyumen State University and the West-Siberian Innovation Center of Oil and Gas.
It was named by the decision of the Tyumen City Council on December 29, 1958 in honor of the Lithuanian guerrilla Marite Melnikaite, who during the war, before being sent to the front, worked briefly at a machine-tool factory in Tyumen. The memorial plaque on the building at the intersection of Melnikaite and Respublika Streets reminds us of this.
