The village of Zell am Ziller is located in the center of the Zillertal Valley and, as a resort, is a worthy competitor to Mayrhofen, well known to lovers of alpine skiing. Its three ski areas – Zell, Gerlos and Konigsleiten-form the largest ski safari in the Zillertal Valley, with an area of 44 hectares and a total length of 155 km. In addition, tourists have the opportunity to ride in all other areas of the valley, including the Tuxer glacier. A free ski bus runs between the villages of Zell, Gerlos and Koenigsleiter, as well as throughout the valley. The ski season lasts from the beginning of December to the end of April.
