Apatity is a town in the Murmansk region of Russia. The center of the urban district of Apatity with subordinate territory, which in addition to it includes the village of Tik-Guba and Khibiny station. Located on the Kola Peninsula, between Lake Imandra and the Khibiny mountain range, on the left bank of the Belaya River.
Akademicheskaya street (now A. E. Fersman street) was formed in Apatity as a result of the Akademgorodok construction, which began in the mid 50s. Akademgorodok was expanding, new laboratory buildings and residential houses were appearing. The street was named Akademicheskaya.
And in 1967, in memory of the scientist, it was renamed into the street named after A.E. Fersman. Most of the laboratories of KSC RAS and the Presidium of KSC RAS are located on the street.
The street is located in the main part of the city, going from north to south.
The street starts from the intersection of Kozlov, Moskovskaya and Energeticheskaya streets (comes out of it). Passes through the Geologists Square and Lenin. Ends at the intersection of Kozlov, Stroiteley and Prigorodnoy streets in front of the hypermarket "Your".
In the north of the street is located Akademgorodok neighborhood.
