Pskov is one of the oldest cities in Russia and the center of the region of the same name. It was founded at the beginning of the 10th century and is famous for a whole placer of Russian medieval monuments of history, culture and architecture of the 12th - 17th centuries.
Pskov is a city with many splendid ancient churches and an imposing fortress with mighty walls and towers, in the structure of which its core - the Krom or Kremlin - stands out. This is the place with a surprising concentration of ancient sights, which "breathes" calmness and thousand-year history.
Riga Avenue in Pskov is the main street of Zavelichy.
Previously it consisted of two sections - Riga Street (in 1919-1926 - Trotsky Street) - from Lenin Square to Narodnaya Street - and Riga highway. Later they were merged into Riga highway, and in 1979 were given the status of the avenue.
