Gyula is a city in the south-east of Hungary, the second largest city of Medje Bekesz after the capital Bekescaba. The city is located 200 kilometers southeast of Budapest and 15 kilometers southeast of Bekescaba. 5 kilometers to the east of the city is the border with Romania. The nearest Romanian city to Gyula is Arad (50 kilometers). The Feher-Keresh (White Keresh) River flows through the city, which flows into the Keresh a few kilometers below Gyula.
