Webcam Cherepovets. Sculpture "Merchant of Cherepovets" (Vologda region).
Cherepovets is the largest city in the Vologda region, founded in 1777. First of all, it is known as the industrial center of the region with a large metallurgical plant. However, its appearance can hardly be called industrial: many 19th century buildings, historical churches, cozy embankments of the Sheksna and Yagorba rivers are preserved here.
Art-object "Cherepovets Merchant" was installed with funds from a private investor within the project "Heart of the City", which aims to transform the historic center of Cherepovets and make it more attractive for tourists and locals. Why was such an honor bestowed upon a representative of the merchant class? Largely thanks to these educated and progressive people Cherepovets once grew and developed. On Sovetsky Prospect there are still standing houses built by them.
The monument to the merchant is the first of those art objects, which are planned to decorate Cherepovets. The "merchant" can be accompanied by art objects with such working names as "Gymnasistka" and "Purse".
