Moruya is a city located on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia, on the Moruya River. The city is about 305 kilometers south of Sydney and 175 kilometers from Canberra.
Moruya was proclaimed a municipality in 1891. The local industries were timber extraction, gold mining, dairy products and granite mining. The first bridge over the Moruya River was built in 1876, although frequent floods resulted in new bridges being built in 1900, 1945 and 1966.
