Guadalajara is a city in Mexico. The administrative center of the state of Jalisco. Founded in 1531 by the Spaniards. Located in the Western Pacific region, the city is known as the Pearl of the West (La Perla del Occidente) and the City of Roses (Ciudad de las Rosas). The city is named after the Spanish Guadalajara, whose name comes from the Arabic Wad al-hijara, which means "river flowing between the rocks".
