Web cam Sutton, London. Kimpton Park Way

The cozy neighborhood of Sutton is located in south London, on the lower slopes of the North Downs, in the so-called Outer City, the part of the city that is away from the City. It is a lovely, green-filled neighborhood.

The toponym Sutton first appears in the Dread Book, written in 1086, as Sudtone, which in Old English means "Southern Farm," and this name has since been applied to the city built there.

When Sutton was connected to central London by rail in 1847, the area's population grew considerably and infrastructure began to develop rapidly. Before the war, in 1934, it became a borough, and in 1965 Sutton became part of the Greater London area when it merged with other boroughs.

Today, this quiet, peaceful neighborhood is lined with recreation areas and parks and is popular as a residence for middle-class families. Its current population is 177,000, of which only 7% belong to the Asian and African ethnic groups.

Architecture, building features
Much of Sutton received its development during the twentieth century, but Victorian-era homes can also be seen here, although the construction of St. Nicholas Church dates back to before the heyday of that era. King Edwardian architecture is also represented in the area, and examples of this era's architecture are found among the area's housing stock. In Sutton, you can see buildings from a range of later eras and styles, all the way up to the 21st century.
